Welcome, Weary Travellers:
Explore a vast desert wasteland sparsely populated by wiry and wily characters, often speechless in their state of anxious excitement.
Abandoned in the hinterlands, the cranky and burnt-out buddies strike out for home. They encounter a few perky travellers who entertain and annoy them in equal measure. Battling hanger and toxic positivity, they soldier on. But they didn’t ask for this!
Finding their form in mini-comics, one-page spreads, and pop-up’s, their world is seldom dull. These unconventional constructions are akin to maps, manuals, and folded public service announcements — all manner of helpful resources for surviving what comes next!
P.S. The colourful pop-ups found at the bottom of this page are in the prototype phase, but I do plan to show and distribute them as folded books with characters, words, etc. You can watch a short portfolio reel at the bottom of this page to see works in progress. I make prints on an etching press that feel like landscapes, scan and edit them digitally, and finally overlay characters and panels once the setting is established.
The visual language of my work is a traditional painterly one. Actions, engagements, and conflicts are often resolved in the same panel, just as you might find in a Renaissance painting or preparatory drawing (cartoon).
Thank you!
